With the support of kindred spirits, the VZW Langrug Community Centre was established in Franschhoek. Our mission is to uplift the Langrug Township—a vibrant community of around 8,000 people from diverse backgrounds, facing challenges such as poverty, unemployment, and limited access to essential services.
Empowering the Franschhoek Township to build a self-sustaining life that nurtures body, heart, and soul.
•Renovation of the community center, creating a welcoming space
•Soup kitchens providing hot meals for 500 children daily
• Holiday soup kitchen marathons to ensure no child goes hungry
• Distribution of 800 warm blankets to those in need
• Hosting job application days to create new opportunities
• Setting up emergency shelters for vulnerable residents
• Self-love workshops empowering children with confidence and care

Be immersed in daily life in the township by a local guide, who has lived there all his life. Not just the ?corrugated iron houses? but a true insight into township life to gain insight into how these people live together. These tours are run by and for the community.
Local residents have been trained as township guides by Steven and Kathleen, not only creating employment but also strengthening the community's self-reliance. All income is fully reinvested locally, contributing to a sustainable future for the community.
